Kvaser and Skillicon support autonomous innovation via aBAJA SAEINDIA 2025

Over 500 students were engaged through the aBAJA event and benefitted from this platform.

The final round of the second edition of aBAJA SAEINDIA, held from 6th to 12th October 2025 at GARC in Tamil Nadu, brought together 17 student teams to showcase autonomous ATV prototypes. Focused on ADAS-equipped vehicles, the competition gives students hands-on experience and is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and skill-building in autonomous mobility.

To support their development, Kvaser supplied each team with a USBcan Light 2xHS interface —an essential tool for real-time CAN communication in autonomous systems. The autonomous category, a recent addition to BAJA SAEINDIA, reflects the industry’s shift toward intelligent mobility and gives students practical exposure to emerging automotive technologies.

On the ground, Skillicon, a Kvaser partner in India, played a vital role in assisting teams throughout the season. Their local expertise ensured that students could make the most of the technology provided, offering hands-on guidance and troubleshooting support during development and testing.

Ms. Jerein Jeyachandran, Co-Convener of aBAJA SAEINDIA 2025 commented:
“For such a safety-critical application as autonomous driving, our participating student teams needed a reliable method of establishing communication, for which Kvaser’s USB to CAN devices proved to be invaluable. Students were able to gain hands-on experience with this industry-grade tool while deepening their understanding of automotive communication protocols.”

Freddy Dahlberg, Kvaser’s Head of Partner Sales, added:

We’re proud to support BAJA SAEINDIA’s autonomous initiative and congratulate all the teams that participated. These students represent the future of mobility.”

With preparations already underway for aBAJA SAEINDIA 2026, the initiative continues to evolve, offering even more opportunities for students to push the boundaries of autonomous vehicle development.
