Kvaser Unveils CanKing 7, our Next-Generation CAN Bus Analyzer Software

Mölndal, Sweden – September 27, 2024

Kvaser is proud to announce the release of the all new CanKing 7, our free-of-charge general-purpose CAN analysis software. Designed to meet the evolving needs of engineers who are testing and debugging CAN networks, CanKing has been fully redesigned to enhance the user experience and introduce a variety of new features and improvements.

Comments Martin Sventén, Kvaser’s CEO: “At Kvaser, we seek to accompany engineers on their CAN journey. This often starts early in development, before a project can justify the acquisition of feature-rich tools. Similarly, there’s demand for straightforward analysis when a CAN system is in the field. In both situations, being able to visualize a CAN trace and take measurement snapshots is all that’s needed. For more complex needs, Kvaser’s Technical Associate network offers a comprehensive choice of software tools, tailored to different industries and diagnostic challenges.

Key features of CanKing 7 include:

  • Modern graphical user interface (GUI): A ‘drag and drop’ graphical measurement setup facilitates the setup of filtering, logging and triggering on messages received or values.
  • Support for Linux: CanKing 7 extends compatibility for Linux users, broadening accessibility and usability to ARM64 and x64 architectures.
  • Multiple workspaces: CAN Trace, CAN Bus Statistics, CAN Send and CAN Periodic Send windows provide an intuitive and efficient user experience.
  • CAN Message Logger: An essential tool for recording and analyzing CAN messages with precision. Store log data in popular formats, such as MF4, ASC, BLF, CSV and TXT.
  • Background Data Processing: Collect and process CAN data in the background, even when the GUI is not displayed. This is useful for long-running logging scenarios, ensuring an uninterrupted workflow.
  • CanKing CLI: Command line functionality enables users to create text-based commands to talk directly to the system under analysis.

As one of the first free CAN bus monitoring tools available, CanKing has gained widespread recognition and trust for general-purpose CAN diagnostics and analysis. Over the years, Kvaser has continually incorporated user feedback to enhance functionality and performance, adding CAN FD compatibility and support for various high-level protocols such as SAE J1939, CANOpen, and NMEA 2000.

This latest update remains completely free of charge for users, who can download it for use on multiple PCs, with no lifetime limitations. Engineers without CAN hardware can generate virtual CAN channels within CanKing in order to begin a new CAN project, and all Kvaser CAN hardware works with the software.
