Smarter CAN Bus Analysis: Kvaser Unveils Customizable CanKing 7 Extensions

Kvaser is proud to introduce the Kvaser CanKing Extensions SDK, an innovative app-based platform that allows users to design and share graphical user interface (GUI) extensions for CanKing 7, Kvaser’s free, general-purpose CAN and LIN analysis software.
What Are CanKing Extensions?
CanKing GUI Extensions enable users to tailor their CAN data presentation using web-based components. Whether it’s refining workflows or enhancing usability, extensions provide flexibility to visualize and interact with CAN signals in ways that suit individual needs. Examples include:
- Displaying signal values in a table
- Plotting signals over time
- Creating dashboards with dials and digital displays
- Designing control panels for devices connected to the CAN bus
A Powerful, Free Solution for CAN Analysis
Unlike competitor solutions, which can be too costly to use for simple tasks such as looking at a CAN trace or CAN log, CanKing 7.1 is free, open, and built to adapt to future needs. Supporting widely used log formats like MF4, ASC, BLF, CSV, and TXT, CanKing 7 integrates seamlessly with all Kvaser hardware.
Empowering Engineers with a Customizable Framework
According to Martin Sventén, CEO of Kvaser, “CanKing Extensions SDK transforms CanKing 7 into a flexible platform that engineers can build upon without creating an application from scratch. From simple functions like start/stop buttons to specialized filters and interpreters, this SDK makes customization easier than ever.”
Developing Extensions with React
Built on React, a dynamic JavaScript library for interactive interfaces, CanKing extensions are cross-platform compatible—meaning a GUI extension developed for Windows will work seamlessly on Linux or embedded systems, including ARM-based Linux.
