Kvaser: Steering Towards a Future of Connectivity

As we approach the end of another eventful year, we sat down with Martin Sventén, CEO of Kvaser, to reflect on the company’s achievements, challenges, and plans.

  • What are Kvaser’s most significant milestones this year, in your view?
This year, as part of a wider rebranding and restructuring initiative, we redefined our mission to ‘Advancing Connectivity’. We intend to remain a primary player for CAN hardware, but reflecting our ongoing product mix, our vision is to be known as a leading innovator of M2M communications. Kvaser has always created technology that connects to many different systems. Our core expertise remains the same too, in sending useful information from one system to another, with a promise to make interfaces that are easy to connect and to adopt.  Lastly, we launched the new CanKing 7 software in September, which has been a significant milestone in enhancing our product offerings and supporting customers’ needs.
  • What industry changes/disruptions does Kvaser need to respond to?
Disruption is taking place at the network architecture level. As an example, many vehicles are moving to a more zonal-based architecture, rather than a centrally-based one. Increases in data speed and throughput are a continuing trend, along with an emphasis on EDGE computing, which sees an increase in interconnected, wireless devices.
  • How has the company performed this year compared to previous years?
This has been a challenging year with wider world issues that affect us. Kvaser is healthy and stable, but we need to remain agile to adapt to changing market conditions. Despite these challenges, we have managed to maintain our market position and continue to innovate, thanks to our team’s dedication and hard work.
  • What aspect of Kvaser gave you the most satisfaction this year?
Seeing many colleagues taking on difficult tasks and succeeding. Taking ownership and solving problems is what we are about as a company. I am particularly proud of how our team has embraced the new mission and vision, driving forward with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to excellence.
  • What are your goals and priorities for Kvaser during the coming year?
We’d like to increase communication and our presence alongside customers and partners. We have a very exciting roadmap ahead, which includes the development of new products and enhancements to existing offerings. Our focus will be on strengthening our partnerships and continuing to innovate in the field of M2M communications. As the year draws to a close, I would like to take a moment to thank our customers, partners, and staff for their trust, collaboration, and hard work. Connectivity is at the heart of what we do at Kvaser, and this season reminds us of the importance of meaningful connections – not just between systems, but among people too.Â
