The Memorator Configuration Window

The Memorator Configuration window is effectively your configuration management tool. Across the top row is a series of icons for creating new configurations, opening a previously saved configuration, saving your current configuration, identifying the device you’re currently connected to by flashing the LEDs on your device, connecting to a device, disconnecting, downloading a configuration to your device, and uploading your device’s current configuration.

With the device connected and the Memorator Config Tool launched, press the Connect button to launch the connection wizard. There should be a list of connected devices. Select the device and click Next. Press Finish, and the device will be connected.

General Information About Your Device

Clicking General Information on the column to the left will display hardware and software version information. From here you can set the real-time clock value in the Memorator by pressing the Adjust button. You can select the desired value manually or press the Set Current Time button to set the clock value to your PC’s current time. The Get Current Time button will update the manual date/time values to the PC’s current time, but the changes will not be saved until you press OK. So, make sure you press OK to save these settings if you’ve changed them.

Flash Disk Initialization

Before you can store data on the memory card, the card must be formatted. It is also a good idea to format the card after updating the Memorator’s firmware as changes in the firmware may affect the storage structure. However, formatting the SD card will erase all data that is stored on the card, including any previous configuration, so make sure to back up any previous data to a safe location.

To format the SD card, select Disk management beneath Flash disk in the column on the left. Next, press the Initialize Disk  button. There are a few options here in the first step of this initialization process. You can adjust the space reserved for use outside of the space reserved for logged data and the space reserved for configuration files. For now, let’s leave these unedited and press the OK button. The final window of the initialization process is a reminder that the initialization will remove all data stored on the SD card. When you’re ready, press Okay. Once the process is complete, text should appear indicating that the initialization was successful. The device is now ready to be configured.
