USB interface mode

To use the device as a USB interface from another computer, it needs to be in initialization mode. This can be achieved by completing a factory reset. To access the device as an interface, connect the USB-C cable on the device to a USB connector on the desired computer. The USB connector does not support power delivery so the device requires external power delivery to start.

If the connected computer is using canlib/linuxcan, the device and its CAN channels should show up in the Kvaser Device Guide and be accessible via a desired application, for example CanKing. Refer to the release notes for versions of canlib and linuxcan supporting the device.

If the computer is using the socketcan drivers, the channels show as canX. Refer to the release notes for versions supporting the device.

Limitations

There are some limitations to what the channels presented by the device can do in interface mode. They are listed below:

  • The functions using BusParamsTq are not supported.
  • Unable to set channel name.
