Discover/Pairing mode

Whereas the Kvaser Air Bridge Light is a pair of statically paired wireless devices, the Air Bridge ’one-to-any’ has the exciting ability to not just pair one-to-one as the Kvaser Air Bridge, but with the Kvaser Air Bridge Management Interface, the Kvaser Air Bridge is able be paired with one out of any Air Bridge ’one-to-any’ devices, hence it can be be used for one-to-any solutions, allowing for multiple devices to be used in more elaborate configurations and solutions.

In order to pair with another device, we need to activate Discovery/Pairing mode (SID 0x06, DID 0xCAD1). This will stop all ongoing CAN traffic being transmitted by the Air Bridge as the device begins to search for other devices to connect to.

With the device in Discovery Pairing mode, request a Device Report (SID 0x05, DID 0xAED1). This command will return the RF Identifier of each discovered slave device within a 200 ms period. With a list of RF Identifiers for available devices, we can request the custom value stored on each device (SID 0x05, DID 0xAD00) to help narrow which device we’d like to connect to. Or, if we recognize the identifier of the device we’d like to connect to we can go ahead and connect, ending Discovery/Pairing mode (SID 0x06, DID 0xCAD2).
